COACHING

One on one, on-site garden coaching sessions. For folks who want to DIY but aren’t sure where to start. Optional add on: spreadsheet of plants in your yard with care instructions and a ‘Know your Weeds’ sheet for invasives, with eradication instructions. Can be paired with maintenance if you want some extra info on your yard.

$45 / hour while onsite, plant lists start at $60

Regular or one-time yard maintenance. Everything from weeding to invasive removal. Always done responsibly with minimal to zero herbicides used & adhering to IPM principles.

    1. Arrival times and job duration are estimates - sometimes jobs go longer or quicker than expected.

    2. I love dogs, but don’t love stepping in poop! Please clean up your yard before I arrive. If the yard is too soiled to work in, I will reschedule. If it is a consistent problem, I will not be able to work in your yard.

    3. I will use your green bin for yard debris, then paper leaf bags. I can leave the bags next to your green bin or haul them away for $10/bag. Large debris is subject to hauling + dumping charges.

    4. I am human and need access to a restroom. If you’re not home or not comfortable with me coming in, that is ok! Bathroom breaks including travel time to find one will be taken ‘on the clock’. Lunches or longer breaks are taken off the clock.

    5. I source my plants from reputable nurseries and never poach or harvest from the wild.

    6. Please tell me if you use herbicides or pesticides in your garden. It is important that I am aware of what PPE to use.

    1. I leave the leaves when possible. They provide free mulch for your plants and habitat for insects. I move leaves from pathways into beds when possible, and remove diseased leaves or fruit tree leaves entirely.

    2. I am first and foremost a native plant specialist. My recommendations will always be based on the health of your yard and the ecosystem it belongs to. This may mean doing things a little differently or shifting baseline for what we think a ‘normal’ yard looks like. Habitat creation and biodiversity are my first priority.

    3. My goal is to get your garden off any existing irrigation for ornamentals. Watering food makes sense, watering thirsty annuals every day does not.

    4. I plant small (1 gal size or smaller) whenever possible. Instead of me trying to dig a giant hole for each plant, the roots can find their own way through the soil. This makes for a resilient plant and a cheaper bill! Smaller plants often catch up to their larger counterparts in a year or two.

    5. I use integrated pest management practices. Usually, pests are a sign of an unbalanced ecosystem and can be managed without chemical intervention.

    6. I use herbicides like a scalpel, not a machete! I use concentrated foam or brush on herbicides, often with a bright indicator color, so overspray isn’t a problem. I only use these on the most challenging invasive species, like knotweed or tree of heaven. If manual removal is viable, I will always try that first.
